#VMThrowback: Janely Castro, Class of 2015

What is your home school: J.W Nixon High School

What is your fine arts/communication area and who is your teacher? Woodwinds/Mrs. Hinojosa

How does it feel to be in the last class to graduate from the downtown campus? I feel happy for all of the students that will have the opportunity of being in that amazing campus, but also disappointed that the Nixon students won’t be able to experience getting on a bus and heading downtown every day. To me that was very fun and all of these memories are unforgettable.

What is it you have enjoyed the most at VMT? Please explain. Throughout these four years at V.M.T I’ve enjoyed the open campus, the awesome faculty and staff and the many friendships made.

What are your fondest memories of VMT. Please explain. There are so many memories made here in V.M.T but one that I will never forget was the Culturas concert my freshmen year and the Culturas concert my junior year. I had the great opportunity of playing with an amazing orchestra.

What was one of your biggest learning experiences? Why was that? One of my biggest learning experiences here in VMT was that we are never alone; there will always be someone willing to help and support you in rough times.

Were there any events at VMT that you enjoyed the most? Please explain. How can I forget the Hispanic festival every year! It was a great experience, working with awesome people and getting to meet new people every time. I enjoyed how there was trust from the faculty and staff to the students, giving us the opportunity to express ourselves freely and learn new things.
