For the past 38 years we have just thought of Grease as just another very popular 50’s teen romance movie. Now it’s 2016, and fans are fantasizing about possible plot twists.

Hardcore Grease fans have expressed multiple theories. People from all over have recently have shared ideas on social media. This has led to these theories going viral within a short period of time.

One theory expressed by fans is Sandy Olsson, played by Olivia Newton-John, was in a coma the whole movie. Many also sense she dies at the end of the movie. I personally believe this theory makes sense. I do think that this theory is very out of the ordinary, crazy, and very unbelievable as well. But, if you were really to look into it and compare all the fan theories to what is actually happening in the movie, it all comes together and makes sense.

Fans, including myself, believe that everything that was going on during the movie was everything that was going on in Sandy’s head while being in a coma.

The theory of Sandy being in a coma the entire movie was due to the fact that Sandy and Danny Zuko, her high school sweetheart, were at the beach “in love” at the beginning of the movie. Fans have suggested that Sandy got into a coma by drowning at the beach when Danny saved her.

While being at the beach, Sandy tells Danny, “this is the end,” and Danny replies, “this is only the beginning.” What if Danny was not able to save Sandy in time and she ended up in a coma?

Fans have also been able to tie Sandy’s death into the movie. They were able to find evidence that has allowed their opinions to be heard.

In a variety of opinion pieces, they mention how at the end of the movie Danny and Sandy ride off into the sky. Fans believe this is when Sandy is reaching her time of death and she is “riding” into heaven happily ever after with the love of her life. I believe in this theory, due to it being the most reasonable one opinionated so far.

Another theory expressed is that Sandy committed suicide, which to me seems very unreal. I didn’t think evidence from this theory was reasonable to the story plot.

This story is projected to viewers with the happily ever ending of Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko in love. But is it really? Could Sandy have been in a coma throughout the whole movie? Could Grease just be based on the fantasy of a woman in a coma? Or could these theories be all nonsense?
