Observations: My favorite VMA performances

Delilah Gonzalez, Observations

MTV Video Music Awards, also known as the VMAs, were breathtaking on Aug. 28. The performers left me speechless. And I have six favorite performances that I can’t get over.

My favorite singer, Ariana Grande, performed her newest hit “Side to Side” featuring Nicki Minaj. It was pink everything and both looked stunning as always. Ariana was rocking a wonderful white outfit and Nicki was wearing a gorgeous light pink outfit. Ariana’s vocals were outstanding. I think she just made this song my favorite jam.

Another amazing performance was by Beyoncé, who performed five of her new songs off her new album, “Lemonade.” Her voice gave me chills.

Of course, they saved the best for last. And the best was Rihanna, who performed four times. She performed soundtracks from all her albums at the VMAs.

First, she sang “Pray You Catch Me.” Then she had an outfit change, looking stunning in a black outfit and sang her second song, “Hold Up.” Seeing her dance made me want to dance. She had some amazing moves. After she performed “Hold Up” she performed another song, “Sorry.” Beyonce and her dancers pulled off incredibly amazing moves.

The last song she performed was “Formation,” and I can tell you she did look so stunning through her entire performance that she left me speechless.

Of course, they saved the best for last. And the best was Rihanna, who performed four times. She performed soundtracks from all her albums at the VMAs.

The first performance was all pink everywhere. Her dancers were dressed all pink as she was dressed with a pink outfit. She performed her songs “Please don’t stop the music,” “We found love,” and “Where have you been?”

In her second performance, she rocked with a white crop top with black leather pants performing “Rude Boy,” “What’s my Name,” and “Work.” That performance had everyone dancing. She had a party up in the stage with so many dancers.

Her third performance was very illuminating with smoke and lightning striking the stage. She performed “Needed Me,” “Pour it up,” and “BBHMM.”

Rihanna’s last performance was everything! She looked incredibly extraordinary in a long gold gown. She performed accompanied by a piano “Stay,” “Diamonds,” and “Love on the Brain.” This performance was the best and my favorite. Her vocals were on point; her facial expressions while singing showed how into her songs she was.

This year VMAs were the best. These were a few of the many performances I loved. Ariana, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, and Rihanna were outstanding. I can’t wait for new music to come and for next year’s VMAs!
