J.W Nixon wins ‘The Hammer Bowl’ for 3rd year in a row

November 28, 2017

Laredo’s oldest rivalry game is played every year during November. It has been a tradition that the winner of this game earns bragging rights and the hammer. The two schools that participate in this football game are J.W Nixon High School and Raymond & Tirza High School. After the battle of these two schools, Nixon finished strongly with the win — 35-28.

This year history was made by both schools. It was the first-ever Martin versus Nixon game to go into overtime. Additionally, Nixon got back-to-back district champs finishing 8-3 overall.
